2) What is PGDM?

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a 2 year full time course comprising of over four semesters. The PGDM course seeks to enhance the students’ learning by offering knowledge-building projects in each semester, while fine-tuning their leadership, communication and inter-personal skills. This also includes knowledge building through foreign languages.

3) What are the research (Ph.D) opportunities for students at SMS?

After completion of their PGDM course, SMS students are eligible for Ph.D admission at Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

4) What are the different courses being offered by the Institute?

We are offering Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), Master of Business Management (MBA), Master in Computer Application-Lateral Entry (MCA-L), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) & Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), B.A.(Hons) Mass Communication.

5) Who all are eligible for admission in these courses of SMS Varanasi?

A graduate in any discipline, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (or 45% in case of SC/ST/OBC Category) from a recognized university is eligible for admission to our PGDM & MBA courses. For MCA-Lateral course Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in BCA, B. Sc (IT/Computer Science) with Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level or at Graduate Level. Intermediate or 10+2 in any discipline is sufficient eligibility for admission in BBA / BCA course at SMS Varanasi. For admission in B.Com course the candidate must have either Commerce or Economic or Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 levels.

7) Are these courses approved by any regulatory body?

PGDM courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India, MCA-L Course affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (APJAKTU) formerly (UPTU), Lucknow . School of Management Sciences is also recognised under section 2(f) of UGC Act. Undergraduate courses are approved by Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidhyapeeth (mgkvp), Varanasi.

8) How is the Placement of the Institute?

We are having a well established Placement Cell working for Placements of our Post-Graduate & Under-Graduate Students since inception of institute. The students never face a problem in getting a job, with a good salary from a company of repute. Rs. 80,000/- per year for Double Seater (including lodging, fooding and Transportation)

Bus facility for Day Scholars students are required to deposit Rs.17,000/- yearly.

15) Does SMS provide Financial Assistance and scholarship to deserving students?

Scholarship are available at both the levels; Entry level as well as during currency of the Course. Scholarships are available for Post Graduate as well as Undergraduate students. 16) How are students of the PGDM course evaluated? What is the parameter of their success in course?

SMS has adopted a system of continuous evaluation to motivate all students to gain excellence. The system is rigorous, requiring students to put in adequate hours of study. At the same time it is interactive and allows students to sharpen their knowledge of the subject by engaging in class discussions, case analysis and presentation, role-plays and interactive games, exercises and written tests along with quizzes. Students are continually informed of their performance in relation to the needed and expected standards..

17) What are international linkages of SMS?

SMS is having foreign collaboration with different universities and corporate houses worldwide viz., USA, Brazil, Hungary, Singapore, Hongkong etc. for the purpose of student exchange, foreign industrial visits, joint research activities etc.
