How to Prepare for an Interview the Night Before

The night before a job interview can be a very stressful time for everyone, and if you want to succeed this step the next day, you will need to prepare well for the occasion. What if I dont know the answer to a question? What if I start from home and fall (dirtying my clothes) on the way to the business? What happens if I dont wake up on time because of my phone? This is normal, and you are certainly not the only one with these kinds of thoughts. This is why you should spend time the night before doing a little something called "Preparation"! Because when you are ready, there is really no reason to worry. So in order to successfully exploit these few hours before the interview, I have made a list of actions to do to make sure that you are covered on all the elements to prepare for D-Day and avoid any mishap. 1. Prepare your outfit. Even if its something you never do on a regular basis, you should prepare your outfit the night before to avoid any chaotic situation in the morning to find something suitable. In addition, it is a great opportunity to check and make sure your shoes match and that your clothes are not stained and above all well ironed. 2. Prepare your artillery. Next stop, prepare your bag with all the essentials: Your CV, a notebook filled with the questions you are going to ask for the recruiter and pens of course. 3. Discover the route and how you will get there. Use Google Maps to make sure you know the route and check the company email for important parking information or other information related to your arrival at their home. (If you realize this is a large building, plan to spend five to ten minutes between the parking lot and reception.) Record the instructions on your phone so that they are available at all times. 4. Review the answers to the most common questions. You have been practising energetically for a few days now. But in case you havent, you need to prepare at least the most common questions and the stories or examples to tell the recruiter. It may seem like a daunting task, but do what you can for those few hours. In addition, tell yourself that preparation is always better than doing nothing. 5. Find information about recruiters or the manager. Make sure you know not only the names but also the titles and departments. If you have the time, do a quick Google search and a little harassment on LinkedIn to get some information on what theyre working on. 6. Print your CV. The recruiter may have your CV in hand, but in some cases, an oversight may occur. Prepare for this case, but also with a few additional people who would like to have a copy of the recruiter decides to bring in other people during this interview. 7. Plan your breakfast. If you never eat anything during breakfast - you should take it before an interview for all the reasons you already know. (Or if its in the afternoon, dont miss your lunch) Dont let hunger destabilize you. 8. Prepare for the worst. The unexpected can happen: it starts to rain when it was not planned, there is traffic on a street or there is never traffic, your pants tears or any other exceptional situation. While some things cannot be prevented or planned, they can be planned proactively. For example, if you are worried about showing up late, give yourself more time in the morning. (Or have a message announcing your “overdue” message ready to be sent to your phone.) 9. Prepare a small reminder sheet. This can be a huge lifesaver when you are within minutes of meeting the recruiter. So write down all the interview details during your research: who you meet and what their titles are, some past work achievements or stories you want to tell, and the questions you want to ask at the end. 10.Dont forget to set your alarm clock (again rather than usual) It may sound silly, but sometimes you need an extra reminder. (On a second phone for example). 11. Make sure you get a good nights sleep. Finally, you worked hard tonight, and you dont want to wake up in cranky mode, so get some sleep. That means turning off your TV, turning off your phone (especially social media) and sleeping at a reasonable hour. I think you are ready! Now you just have to succeed in your interview. "You deserve better, do your best"
