There are mainly 3 stages of the placement: CLEARING APTITUDE TEST The first hurdle to get a campus placement is to clear the aptitude test, most students don’t take the stage very seriously but this a very crucial stage as 50% or more students get rejected just by scoring less in the aptitude test. Students must start preparing for this right from the beginning, looking up for questions and solving them will help you in getting the adequate knowledge and practice. Some of the common topics for aptitude tests are logical reasoning, data interpretation, quantitative aptitude and verbal ability. The best book for Quantitative Aptitude part of the test is Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations by Dr. R.S. Aggarwal. This book is essential for aptitude exams as most companies refer this book and it also explains all the concepts clearly. The patterns of the exam may vary from one company to another. It is very important to review previous year Aptitude tests to get an idea about the test pattern that the company follows. This will help you to focus on the important topics that company emphasizes upon and you can spend more time-solving problems on those topics. You should also learn how to manage your time while you answer these questions. GROUP DISCUSSION As previously said every company is different and as for some companies this is an important part, a group discussion round tells a lot about the person and his behavior while responding to other people’s views. There are certain DOS and DONTS that a person must keep in mind while preparing for a group discussion. You can impress the committee by your charm and personality while answering questions with intelligence and being polite to others; you should also have a through process and command over yourlanguage. The most important GD mantra is to just “be yourself”. The more you try to twist things the more you will be in problem. The best way to go about things is to be natural and make sure all your responses are spontaneous. See a group discussion as extensions of your everyday conversation with people this will not put the burden on you. Another important thing to remember in a GD is that it is not a seminar and the only way to make your presence felt is by speaking and taking a stand for yourself but that does not mean to scream, to make your point you must be polite and should have adequate knowledge of what you are stating in front of the committee. THE INTERVIEW This might be the toughest of all the above rounds but come on you have so far and you can definitely ace the interview with some of your charm and intelligence. The most important thing to remember while you are in front of the interviewers is to stay calm, focused and confident. Just be yourself and don’t interrupt the interviewer, you should have read some of the commonly asked questions and should have prepared yourself according to your subject. You should also ask them questions about your job profile, the company and other information this shows that you take your work seriously and also shows your interest. Another important this is that if you don’t know the answer to a question, just admit it. Don’t try to make up answers. Be honest and avoid creating a bad impression. SOME OF THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ASKED IN AN INTERVIEW ARE: Tell us about yourself? What are your likes and dislikes? Or what are your hobbies? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Do you have a role model?   OTHER THINGS TO KEEP IN YOUR MIND WHILE PREPARING FOR A CAMPUS PLACEMENT ARE: THE RESUME A resume is the first thing that gives an impression of your work, skills, andknowledge. Recruiters go through more than 100 resumes in a week, so it is important to keep them short and crisp but giving the recruiter an idea of your work and abilities. Typically, employers take about 30 seconds to review a CV. So, instead of writing an autobiography, include profile-specific relevant information. ATTIRE AND PUNCTUALITY These are the two most common but important points associated with all the 3 stages that are the aptitude test, group discussion, an interview. Do not arrive late for your test or interview, it’s better to reach the venue before time. Dressing suitably is also a very crucial part of the whole process. Wear a formal attire and follow the etiquettes. Be calm and confident. Lastly always remember “MANNERS MARKETH MAN!!” to be polite, and have faith in yourself.
