Interesting Way to learn periodic table by using Hindi Mnemonics | UPDATED 2019
Are you a Science Stream Student, then you would know very well what a periodic table is! A periodic table provides the names, atomic numbers, atomic weights and symbols of the known elements on earth. It is a great tool for solving several problems of Chemistry. It is divided into rows (periods) and columns (groups) which when combined forms blocks. Each column contains the elements having same behavior while bonding with other elements and rows contains the elements having same number of electron shell in one period. The whole periodic table is divided into 4 blocks s, p, d and f block. The block names are derived from the spectroscopic notation for the associated atomic orbitals: sharp, principal, diffuse and fundamental. The periodic table is very useful, however to remember the sequence and position of an element is an interesting and tedious task. To make learning easy here we are telling you some fascinating and humorous ways to memorize elements along with each group or period by using Hindi mnemonics. Before we start, some key points you have to keep in mind while reading Hindi mnemonics: In the sentences the first bold letter in each word denotes the symbol but at the places where complete symbol could not be included another letter of symbol is shown in brackets. When you are reading the sentences you have to ignore letters in bracket. The symbols of elements in sentences are arranged in same order as they occur in group or period. To make the sentences easier to remember, at some places, phonetics have been used to denote a symbols such as ‘c’ could be replaced by ‘k’, ’g’ with ‘j’, ‘I’ with ‘ea’ and ‘o’ with ‘u’. S-Block Elements: S- Block elements are first two groups of periodic table and are alkaline in nature. These two groups are almost having same physical and chemical properties. This block elements are known as s-block elements as the valence electrons of elements occupies s-orbitals. Group 1: It is known as alkali metals. It includes Lithium (Li), Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Rubidium (Ru), Caesium (Cs), and Francium (Fr). Mnemonics for Group 1: LiNa Ki Ruby Cse Friendship hai Or Hai LiNa Ki Rab Cse Fariyad Group 2: It is known as alkaline earth metals. It includes Beryllium (Be), Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca), Strontium (Sr), Barium (Br), and Radium (Ra). Mnemonic for Group 2: Beta Mange Car Scooter Baap Raazi. P-Block Elements: P-Block Elements consists of last six groups of periodic table from group 13 to 18. These are those elements which occupying their valence electrons in p-orbitals. This block includes metals, metalloids, noble gases and halogens. Group 13 (IIIA): It is called as Boron group. It includes Boron (B), Aluminum (Al), Gallium (Ga), Indium (In), and Thallium (Tl). Mnemonics for Group 13: B A G I T Or BAL Gangadhar In Thailand Group14 (IVA): It is called as Carbon group. It includes Carbon (C), Silicon (Si), Germanium (Ge), Tin (Sn), and Lead (Pb). Mnemonic for Group 14: Chemistry Sir Gives Sanki Problems Or Chale Shiv Ge Sang Parbati Group 15 (VA): It is called as Nitrogen group. It includes Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Arsenic (As), Antimony (Sb), and Bismuth (Bi). Mnemonic for Group 15: Nahi Pasand Aise Sab Bhai Or Nana Patekar Aishwariya SaB Bindass Group 16 (VIA): It is called as Chalcogens. It includes Oxygen (O), Sulphur (S), Selenium (Se), Tellurium (Te), and the radioactive element Polonium (Po). Mnemonic for Group 16: Oh! Style Se Tel Polish. Group 17 (VIIA): It is called as Halogens. It includes Fluorine (F), Chlorine (Cl), Bromine (Br), Iodine (I), and Astatine (At). Mnemonic for Group 17: Fir Call kar Bahaar AayI Aunty Or Faltu Class mein Boring Instructor Aata hai Zero group or group 18: It is called as Inert or Noble gases group as they are colorless gases with low chemical reactivity. In this Helium is an exception. The group includes Helium (He), Neon (Ne), Argon (Ar), Krypton (Kr), Xenon (Xe), and the radioactive Radon (Rn). Mnemonic for Group 18: He Never Arrived; Kara Xero Run pe out. D- Block Elements: D- Block consist element group 3 to 12. These are those elements which are occupying their valence electrons in d-orbitals, it is second outermost shell. Group 3 to 11 are transitional elements and fully filled d-sub-shell elements in group 12 are known as post –transition elements. For learning purpose we go period wise and not group wise for d-block elements. Period 4: These elements are found in earth’s crust or/and core and are highly stable elements. It includes Scandium (Sc), Titanium (Ti), Vanadium (V), Chromium (Cr), Manganese (Mn), Iron (Fe), Cobalt (Co), Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn). Mnemonic for Period 4: Science Ti(ea)cher Vineeta Criplani Man Fenko (FeCo) NiKyun(Cu) Zaan hai? Read as: Science Teacher Vineeta Kriplani manfenko ni kyun zaan hai? Period 5: These elements show many exceptions to Maledung rule. It includes Yttrium (Y), Zirconium (Zr), Niobium (Nb), Molybdenum (Mo), Technetium (Tc), Ruthenium (Ru), Rhodium (Rh), Pd (Palladium), Silver (Ag) and Cadmium (Cd). Mnemonic for Period 5: Yeh Zarra Nabi bana Mohabaat mein T(c)eri, R(u)o R(h)o P(d)ukarogi Aaj(g) ise Chandni Read as: Yeh Zarra Nabi bana Mohabbat mein Teri, Ro Ro Pukarogi Aaj ise Chandni Period 6: This period includes the lanthanides or rare earths. Some of these transition metals are very valuable such as gold. It includes actinides which include the heaviest naturally occurring element Californium. It includes Actinium (Ac), Rutherfordium (Rf), Dubnium (Db), Seaborgium (Sg), Bohrium (Bh), Hassium (Hs), Meitnerium (Mt), and Darmstadtium (Ds). Mnemonic for Period 7: Ak(c)ele R(f) D(b) S(g)harma ki B(h)ook mein H(s)ain Maths ke Difficult sawaal. Read as: Akele R D Sharma ki Book mein Hain Maths ke Difficult sawaal. F-Block Elements: F-block elements are also known as inner transition elements; having their valence electrons in f-orbitals. They can be divided into Lanthanides (also known as rare earth elements) and Actinides. Lanthanides include these f-block elements- Cerium (Ce), Praseodymium (Pr), Neodymium (Nd), Promethium (Pm), Samarium (Sm), Europium (Eu), Gadolinium (Gd), Terbium (Tb), Dysprosium (Dy), Holmium (Ho), Erbium (Er), Thulium (Tm), Ytterbium (Yb) and Lutetium (Lu).
