Being clear about the basics of Computer Science. Students who have studied Computer Science in Plus 2 will have a natural advantage in this area. Others will have to work hard to catch up with them. Only when the basics are completely understood can the student proceed further. A clear knowledge of the theory learned during class is a great asset. Students are advised to listen attentively to professors and diligently make notes. Once the theories have been grasped by the student, then he can learn to apply them practically. A good grasp of theory will provide fantastic results when applied practically. Applying practically the theories that the student has learnt is also very important. The student should practise programming and domain theories. This will help to increase his confidence, making him better at his job. With proper and regular practice, a student will hone his skills to perfection. A student should not limit himself to the prescribed syllabus. He should do as much outside reading as possible on the topics related BCA. By doing this, his knowledge field will expand. A student of BCA can also dabble in other courses. He can take on some other technical courses that are not taught to him like DOTNET and PHP as well as courses on multimedia and animation among others. This will help to improve his skill set. BCA students are encouraged to do internships and training with major IT companies. They can do this alongside their studies during the semester or they can do this when classes are on a break. Internships and training will increase the chances of employment of the student. A student of BCA should keep himself abreast of all the latest updates taking place in the field of technology. He should have proper information on latest inventions and should be able to quickly adapt himself to them. The student should work hard during his college years. He should attend all his classes and have a proper GPA. This is very important in whichever field he wants to later pursue, be it higher studies like MCA or entering the job market, as companies take GPA very seriously. A bad GPA will substantially reduce the chances of the student towards finding a suitable job. Concentration is very important for students of BCA. They should not get distracted during the course of their study. Especially if they do not have a background in computer science, they should pay extra attention in class and try to catch up. Last but not the least, students should be prepared to work hard. Working hard is the number one requirement of succeeding in life, be it in whichever field. Hard work right from the beginning of the course will yield great rewards to a student of BCA all throughout his life
