Cheerful, Supportive and Grateful – The three keys.

If you begin your day each morning with a positive vibe it sets you up as the sort of person to whom stress and trouble and problems are but as water off a duck’s back. You thus get a reputation as being someone who is in control, smooth, relaxed, confident and very mature. Being cheerful puts you in positive frame of mind and vice versa. The positivity of being cheerful affects your surroundings positively and also influences the people. Be cheerful at all times.  Being cheerful helps your mind to see the possibilities in worst of situation, being cheerful makes other people in your company confident. Being cheerful is not being comical or fooling around. Being cheerful is a state of mind, being cheerful is part of our attitude. Being cheerful is a trait which can be acquired. Maintaining a cheerful and positive outlook is a trick. At first you don’t have to believe it, just do it. Act it. Pretend. But do it. After a little while you’ll find it is not an act, you are not pretending, you genuinely do feel cheerful.  It’s a trick. You are tricking yourself, no one else. Putting on a smile, triggers hormones. All it takes is the first few days smiling when you don’t feel like it and you will start a cycle going that will make you feel better all the time. Once you are seen as someone cheerful and positive, people will want to hang out with you more – there is nothing as attractive as a cheerful person. Decorate your workplace, your study table with flowers or other such things that make it look attractive and cheerful. When people ask - How are you? They don’t wish to know that how is your health or how bad you are feeling, “How are you” is an expression which is generally used as a method of wishing someone. Remember that. You should always respond as Fine, really good, doing great. The real challenge to this attitude of staying cheerful is load of work. How do you respond when you are given extra work, are you forthcoming in your approach or you are grumbling and complaining. You are hiding behind someone to avoid being given the responsibility or you are considering it as a great opportunity to learn and grow. A cheerful person would take everything in his stride. A cheerful person with positive attitude, never loses any battle in life, he will always find the winning elements even in worst of losses. A positive and cheerful person also stands up for others, particularly for those who cannot stand themselves. Standing up for others, no matter what, gets you a reputation as someone who can always find something nice to say about everybody. It is amazing how quickly the word will spread that you are a thoroughly nice person – you don’t bitch, you don’t moan, you stand up for the underdog, you are supportive and can always see at least one good point in a thoroughly bad apple. You will always find reason to compliment people, and compliment sincerely. You would not fake appreciation but be able to discover appreciable qualities in people. The keyword is “sincerely”. You should be generous with compliments and appreciation, but never ever give a false or fake compliment, even if others don’t notice it, but the person being complimented would know it and he will certainly not respect you for that. He will mark you as a fake and false person. Never underestimate the power of ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. It’s basic, but very important but still it doesn’t happen frequent enough. People say that they are too busy or too forgetful. It doesn’t matter how many times a day someone passes you a piece of paper – it is ‘thank you’ every single time without fail or exception. It doesn’t matter how many times you have to ask for the same thing – you always say ‘please’. If someone does anything for you, no matter how mundane, trivial, repetitive, boring, effortless, you will always say thank you. You forget one time and you will be labelled as rude, boorish and unpleasant. Make someone’s day and don’t forget, ‘please’, ‘thank you’. So remember staying cheerful, supportive and grateful; the three keys to unlock the doors of success for you. So, stay cheerful, supportive and always remain grateful.
