My First Year College Experience - Muskan Shehgal, BBA-1st Year Student
A changing moment comes in your life when you start going to college. New friends, new subjects, new classrooms, new teachers, completely a different environment as compare to the school life. When you start going to college there are many facts to go with: Like you have to call sir or mam to your seniors, and not didi or bhaiya like in the school times. There is no uniform so you have the freedom of what you want to wear. You can come and go anytime you want. 75% attendance means 75% attendance, if you don’t have it, the college authorities kick you out at the times of examination. The way you define yourself in a college is what goes with you in career. Respect others, and they will respect you, or else it college dude, if you mess with someone, you will forget even the spellings of mess. Always impress your lecturers cause dude they have your marks! And there are many more… actually college life is a book of fun, if you have got the right friends, then matey your college life is gonna be AWESOME!!!!! College is a place where you meet the real world. It’s a place where you find out the real you. It’s the place where you define yourself. Yah! At first stepping from a school to a college is quite difficult, cause you are too attached with the memories but chill cause you can still connect with your friends through social sites, so don’t be a baby and stop crying. I have chosen BBA, i.e. Bachelors of Business Administration as my stream. BBA serves me numerous opportunities. After pursuing BBA I have a lot of lines to go with, but the opportunities that I am looking forward to is CAT Banking Sales and managing And after my graduation I can sit for various competition exams like civil services, SSB, etc. What I have found most interesting in BBA is the subjects of it, i.e., financial accounting, economics, statistics, Punjabi (compulsory though), IT, management out of which my favourite subject is statistics, it includes maths, basically it’s a combo of business and maths. It’s a fun subject, I love to the calculations. Actually almost all the subjects are my favourite as they are very understandable and easy to score in. Though I am not a hosteller, but I have many friends who are. I have heard a lot of stories and rules & regulations of it. Like you can only go out after 2pm and you gotta come back till 5pm, I mean a movie would just get over in that time. But I have heard about the amazing parties that held every month, but not so yummy food though. The rooms are nice and clean. And have a friendly environment. Plus the hostellers get to know about every notice in advance, like regarding holidays and etc. A class 12th student should definitely opt for BBA if he or she is looking forward to build a career in banking, sales, Ceo of a company maybe, MBA, and plus you can crack other papers too. Let me tell you, I was a student of humanities stream in my 10+2 and now I have taken BBA though it’s a commerce department cause BBA serves soo many lines to pursue. If you couldn’t get one, you can choose the other, there are several no. of career lines you can opt in BBA. Whatever you do in your life make sure you are happy in the end. Don’t take a wrong stream under the pressure of someone. Think wisely, and opt the one in which you could best fit it. Have the freedom to choose what you want. The rest, college will guide you at its best. I mean the seniors, as you come in a college, you can interact with the seniors. They are so friendly to you and they will welcome you in such a nice manner that you will feel like a very comfortable environment on the very first day. Idk about others! But my seniors are the best. They threw us an amazing fresher’s party, it was so cool and awesome, all the fun and dancing. The hosts were are seniors themselves. They made us laugh, they made us feel like a family. College life is amazing if you start looking at the little things in life. Think of a career that best suits you. Opt for your best and not for others, cause matey this is your life. Make your parents feel proud of you by taking the right decision right now! All the best and wish you luck for all the students are about to start a new beginning. Turn the page now, start your story and be careful. It’s not school, its college baby!
