Dream Big to Achieve Big

When in school we hardly can decide on our own. We always rely on the people around us to decide for us, to choose for us. While most of the times the decisions are wise and help us grow, sometimes it is not. Just as motivation keeps our spirits high, criticism pulls us down. It hits harder when it comes from our loved ones. Continuous de-motivation and criticism affect the young mind so bad that we start believing them. We lose our self-confidence and choices. We take it for granted that our own choices and wishes are wrong and baseless. We start accepting the fact that we are nothing, solely based on our grades or performance of a certain activity. However, this is not true. While childhood is the foundation stone of our future, there are lots beyond it. Our mistakes and in-capabilities during those tender years do not decide our future. It is our own choices that decide. Do not let others decide for you. Let what may come, always stay true to your heart. Here are some ways to cope up with the difficulties and criticism and to move forward: Dream Big: Let no one direct your dreams. Dream free. Dream big. If people say your dreams are crazy, let them be. Let your dreams drive you crazy. Just keep in mind that dreams do come true.  So never stop dreaming. Do not settle for less: If you can dream it, you can live it. Never ever settle for less. But if you start doubting it once, you will forever. Be sure of where you want to go, who you want to be  Don’t let others’ failure stories pull you down. Rather take lessons and avoid the mistakes. Janis Joplin once said,”You are what you settle for. Do you know what I mean? You are only as much as you settle for; if they settle for being somebody’s dishwasher that’s their own f—–‘ problem. If you don’t settle for that and you keep fighting it, you’ll end up anything you want to be.” Avoid haters: As the saying says ‘Haters gonna hate’, there will always be people who are ready to criticize anything and everything you do. Avoid getting up close and personal with them. Do not hate them back. But for your own mental peace and stability avoid discussing your dreams and aspirations with them. Their words will make a negative impact on you, unnoticed. You might doubt your dreams based on their views. Remember, it is not advisable to put up your cards to all. Approach experts: There will always be some people who would believe in your dream. It as real to them as to you. Maybe few, but they are there. Approach them. Give them a clear idea of your thoughts. Seek for their help and guidance. If even if they cannot guide you directly, their motivation and belief will make a huge difference, for good. Be clear, Don’t juggle: In our early days, we have many dreams. We want to become many-a people. But as we grow along it is important that we focus on the one thing that we really want. Juggling between many things will not only distract your focus but also make you ‘Jack of all trades but master of none’ Identify and strive: It is very important to find your strengths and weakness. A person having an excellent voice and two left feet can be a singer easily than a dancer. It is thus extremely important to know what and how to work upon. Strive for perfection. Take small steps every day. Keep moving. An early start will make the path easier. Read motivational stories: In spite of being confident about your dream, there are weak moments. These are the moments of self-doubt ad uncertainty. A momentary failure or disappointment pulls us down. Read motivational and success stories of eminent personalities for these moments. The stories will inspire you and get you going. Success and failure are the two sides of the same coin. But to see them both, it is important to have the coin in your hand. Your dream is the coin. Let your dream take to a life-long drive, such that you never stop.
