Guest Lecture Series at SMS
SMS has oraganised a three day long guest lecture series in their lush green and adorable campus in Varanasi on 21st , 24th and 27th August, 2010. The lecture series in Leading Business School of the country, School of Management Sciences (SMS) were concluded. In the programme, intellectuals from different fields enlightened the students on different aspects of management. The key speakers of the lecture series were Mr. Bharat Bhushan Hooja Executive Engineer (Retired), Delhi Vidyut Board, and Mr. Salil Chopra, Ex CEO, Jaquar, Dr. B. R. Singh, Ex. Director, Ispat Group and Mr. Hemant Kumar, Director-HR, Indorama. Speaking in the first session of the lecture series Bharat Bhushan Hooja Executive Engineer (Retired), Delhi Vidyut Board discussed the various aspects of stress management and its relevance in present corporate scenario. Mr. Bhushan, in his deliberations, emphasised that there should be two-fold growth in every individual i.e. material growth as well as spiritual growth. He also emphasised that in order to manage stress yoga, meditation and activating the 7 Energy Centres in the human body is the key. Mr. Bhushan further said that Stress creates negative energies which devoid a person from achieving his objectives. Therefore efforts should be made to convert the stress into creative positive energy.
On this occasion Mr. Salil Chopra, Ex CEO, Jaquar said that balancing the work and life in the stressful working conditions is of paramount significance. Therefore efforts should be made to create and sustain the positive energies within oneself. Speaking in the lecture series Dr. B. R. Singh, Ex Director, Ispat Group exhorted the students to exhibit necessary qualities of patience, tolerance and resilience besides adjusting to Global environment to be successful in life; after all they are going to manage technology. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Hemant Kumar, Director-HR, Indorama said that inside every individual there is a winner. It is important to identify and create opportunities with right attitude and achieve the said targets in life. Mr. Hemant further said that students should dream as it is essential to set higher aims in life. At the same time the students should have the doggebness to convert their dreams into realities. Earlier welcoming the intellectuals in the inaugural function of the lecture series, Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS said that SMS is always committed towards conducting such academic discussions. He further said that management is a diverse discipline and such an academic discussion regarding stress management provides value to the students. In the inaugural function Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Registrar, SMS and faculty members were also present.
