The four-day SMS Fest, "Anveshan-2026," held at the School of Management Sciences, Varanasi, proved to be a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, team spirit, and creative expression. More than 700 students from various courses participated, filling the campus with energy and enthusiasm.
The four-day SMS Fest "Anveshan-2026" was inaugurated on Wednesday at the School of Management Sciences. Addressing the inaugural session of Anveshan-2026, Prof. P.N. Jha, Director, SMS Varanasi said that sports are not just a medium of competition, but a laboratory for personality development.
Underlining the relevance of Anveshan-2026, he said that this event is a powerful platform to discover and nurture the hidden talents within students. Our students should become strong not only academically but also physically and mentally. Emphasizing the need to balance sports and education, Prof. Jha said that academic excellence alone is not enough in todays competitive era. Every run, every pass, every shot, and every strategy in sports is like preparation for bigger goals in life. Interacting directly with the students, Prof. Jha said that your discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship on the field are your true victory. Participate with full enthusiasm, fairness, and a positive attitude, because this experience will make you successful in every field of life.
• March-past, thrilling finals
The fest began with an impressive march-past, showcasing discipline and enthusiasm from students across various faculties. Over the next four days, competitions such as cricket, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, carrom, chess, tug-of-war, and the 100- meter race were held on campus. While exciting cricket and volleyball matches enthralled spectators on the field, participants in indoor games like table tennis, chess, and carrom displayed excellent concentration and strategic skills. The tug-of-war competition showcased a remarkable blend of team spirit and enthusiasm.

• Active participation of creative clubs
This year, "Anveshan-2026" was not limited to sports competitions; creative competitions organized by the institutes various clubs—Spark Club, Contrast Club, Livewire Club, Synergy Club, and Panorama Club—added a multifaceted dimension to the event.
Through these clubs, students had the opportunity to showcase their talents in stage management, cultural presentations, photography, debate, management skills, and team-building activities. This fostered both sportsmanship and creativity and leadership skills.

On the final day, final matches were held in various sports, where participants showcased their best abilities. Students enthusiasm was at its peak in cricket, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, 100-meter race, tug-of-war, carrom, and chess.
Winners in individual and team events were honored with trophies and certificates. The large number of participants in both mens and womens categories made the event even more balanced and inspiring.

The closing session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Pallavi Pathak. Present on the occasion were Executive Secretary Dr. M.P. Singh, Director Prof. P.N. Jha, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Coordinator Sunil Mishra, Dr. Rohit Mehta, Mr. Atish Khadse and all the teachers and staff were present.
