MCA BCA Orientation Programme 2026 at SMS Varanasi
School of Management Sciences (SMS), Varanasi organised an orientation programme for newly admitted students of the MCA and BCA programmes to formally welcome them to the institution and acquaint them with the academic environment, programmes, facilities and opportunities available at the institute.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and garlanding of the statue of Goddess Saraswati by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, marking an auspicious beginning to the academic journey of the newly admitted students. The guests were also welcomed and presented bouquets by the faculty members of SMS Varanasi.
Delivering the welcome address, Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS Varanasi, welcomed the students and dignitaries and encouraged the new students to make the best use of the academic and professional opportunities available at the institution. He emphasised the importance of discipline, continuous learning, innovation and active participation in academic and co-curricular activities.
Mr. Veeresh Tripathi, Associate Professor, SMS Varanasi, presented the preamble of SMS Varanasi and highlighted the institution's vision and commitment towards quality education and holistic development of students. An overview of the MCA and BCA programmes was presented by Prof. Kamal Sheel Mishra, HOD–Computer Science, SMS Varanasi. He briefed the students about the academic structure, curriculum, learning opportunities and the role of emerging technologies in shaping careers in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology.
The programme was graced by distinguished guests from academia and industry. Ms. Akanksha Saini, National Coordinator–Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay and Senior Associate Vice President, EduPyramids (SINE–IIT Bombay), addressed the students and shared valuable insights on skill development, technology-enabled learning and the importance of continuously upgrading one's technical competencies. Mr. Surjeet Thakur, Founder & CEO, Trio Tree Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Noida, also addressed the students and encouraged them to develop industry-relevant skills, entrepreneurial thinking and a professional attitude from the beginning of their academic journey.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Devender Singh, Dean (Academic Affairs), IIT (BHU), Varanasi, blessed and motivated the students on the occasion. He highlighted the significance of quality education, innovation, research and lifelong learning in building successful professional careers.
The distinguished guests were subsequently felicitated by Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS Varanasi, as a mark of respect and gratitude for their presence and valuable guidance. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. Shambhu Sharan Srivastava, Course Coordinator–MCA, SMS Varanasi. The session was coordinated by Dr. Sripriya Roy Chowdhuri, Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi.
