CASE CHASE CONTEST & BUSINESS PLAN CONTEST-2016

A Case Chase Competition was organized at SMS Varanasi campus on September 29, 2016 by CEISD a Centre of Excellence of School of Management Sciences, Varanasi. Students from various courses participated with great vigor and zeal. 31 case studies related to different dimensions of Marketing, Finance, HR, Strategic Management etc were presented by the participating students. Case of Nokia,Tata Nano, Patanjali, Motorola, RavWan (U.S.A),Emami, Nortel, Pizza Hut, Henikken, Sulabh International, Amazon Mahindra Scorpio, Kellogg, Jet Airways, Maruti Suzuki ,Kerla Tourism, Cadbury, Hindustan Motors, Sugar Mills etc were discussed in the forum. The contest was judged by an esteemed panel of jury which included Prof. S. K. Singh (IMS-BHU), Prof. N. B. Singh (IMS-BHU) and Prof. K. K. Agrawal (Former Head and Dean-Faculty of Commerce and Management, MGKVP). Earlier in his inaugural address Prof. P. N. Jha (Director, SMS Varanasi) extended a very warm welcome to the guests and threw light on the importance of case study and teaching pedagogy. During his address Prof S. K. Singh said that Case studies provide a means for highlighting and extracting practical principles and methods for shaping and accelerating progress in solving complex real world problems. Prof. K. K. Agrawal said that case studies inform burgeoning theories such as those associated with complex systems engineering where people are considered part of the system to be conceived, developed, fielded, and operated; or extant systems targeted for improvement upgrades. Following students were declared the winners by the panel of eminent judges:- 1. Akancha Mishra PGDM 3rd Semester 2. Samarth Verma BBA 1st Semester 3. Rekha Agarwal MBA 1st Semester, Utkarsh Varshney & Shreyashi Vatsa BBA 3rd Semester Another competitive event by name- Business Model Contest was organized at SMS, Varanasi on 30th September, 2016. Students from various programs participated in the contest with great zeal and vigor. A total of 25 Business Models were presented. During his welcome address Prof. Raj Kumar Singh (Chairperson-CEISD) extended a very welcome to the judges and advocated the importance of entrepreneurship in the todays complex competitive environment. He also said that such contests are the essence of Management Education in any B-School. Results of the contest will be declared soon and final round will be scheduled in the 3rd week of October.
