Seven-day Faculty Development Program(2024) at SMS Varanasi
Seven-day Faculty Development Program started at SMS Varanasi. The theme of this seven-day FDP is “Advanced Analytical Tools for Effective Research”. Prof. P.K. Mishra of IIT (BHU) and Prof. Pooja Khatri of Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University were present as the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour respectively in the inaugural session of the seven-day FDP. Welcoming the guests, SMS Varanasi’s Director Prof. P.N. Jha said that this seven-day FDP has been prepared in view of better teaching and research. This will help teachers to adapt to the rapidly changing educational scenario. He said that a good teacher should develop a research-oriented approach along with teaching. Outlining the objectives of the FDP, Prof. Jha said that it is essential to analyse the data in research through appropriate tools. This FDP will undoubtedly help teachers and researchers to do research in the right direction.
The Chief Guest of the Inaugural session, Prof. P.K. Mishra of the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT (BHU), said that the role of continuous learning and analytical tools is important in solving complex research problems. He said that new technologies like AI have undoubtedly brought about rapid changes in the field of research. Today, facts are available at the fingertips but along with this, it becomes difficult to identify the correct and accurate facts. Prof Mishra, while highlighting the role of teachers, said that today teachers have a great role in developing a student-centric educational environment, this goal can be achieved only from a scientific point of view.
In the Inaugural session, Guest of Honour Prof. Pooja Khatri said that today it is very important to have an understanding of major techniques like dimension, item analysis and scale purification. She said that these are the basic elements to ensure the reliability and validity of research tools. Prof. Khatri said that generalization and invariance test are necessary in research. In the technical session of the first day, Prof. Pooja Khatri discussed in detail important research elements like concept, construct, scale and dimension. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Bhavana Singh. The first and second technical sessions of the first day of the seven-day FDP were conducted by Dr. Sofia Khan and Ms. Shruti Singh respectively. Prof. Pallavi Pathak gave the vote of thanks.
On this occasion, Executive Secretary of S.M.S. Varanasi Dr. M.P. Singh, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta, FDP Convener Prof. Amitabh Pandey, Prof. Rajkumar Singh and a large number of teachers and participants were present.
