Orientation Programme for B.Com. held at SMS, Varanasi
Inaugurating the first batch for B.Com. course in an orientation programme at School of Management Sciences, Varanasi on Thursday, the Chief Guest of the Function Prof. Prithvish Nag (Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi) said that SMS has been one of the best institution affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi in terms of quality delivery system and making students learn their responsibilities towards society. Prof. Nag further said that Commerce not only facilitates trade and business but covers different facets including retail, infrastructure, technology and even space.
Earlier welcoming the dignitaries to the SMS campus, the Director Prof. P. N. Jha highlighted the excellence achieved by School of Management Sciences in imparting quality education. Prof. P. N. Jha further stated that SMS has always focused on social responsibility activities and hence students need to learn to take responsibilities and perform their duties towards society. Students should not only excel in academics but also work for maintaining and enhancing the creditability of the Institute. He exhorted students for time management in order to develop their skills as required by the industry.
The Dean, Management Sciences, Dr. Sanjay Saxena highlighted about the B.Com. programme at School of Management Sciences, Mr. Krishna Kant Bajpai, Assistant Professor, SMS presented the preamble of SMS, depicting the Vision, Mission and Values of the Institution. Dr. Hemant Yadav, Coordinator, B.Com. programme discussed the B.Com. course at length with the students. The inaugural session was coordinated by Mrs. Pallavi Pathak, Assistant Professor, SMS.
In the post lunch sessions Mr. Alok Kumar, Dean R&D, spoke on extra and co-curricular activities and Mr. Sandeep Singh, Dean (Development and Students Affairs) talked about the activities of Centre for Spirituality and Human Enrichment . Mr. Rishi Raman Singh, Assistant Professor, SMS highlighted the importance of discipline and Mr. Subhagata Roy, Assistant Professor, SMS opined on positive attitude and Mr. Anindo Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor, SMS talked about faculty at SMS. Mr. Anand Prakash Dube, Assistant Professor, SMS and Dr. Ravi Shekhar Vishal, Assistant Professor, SMS highlighted the facilities provided by Computer Centre and Library, respectively. The post lunch session was coordinated by Shri Rohit Mehta, Assistant Professor, SMS.
Prof. P. N. Jha felicitated the Chief Guest with memento and shawl. Present on the occasion were the Executive Secretary, Dr. M. P. Singh, Registrar, Shri Sanjay Gupta and members from the faculty and staff. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shri Sandeep Singh, Associate Professor, SMS.
