MBA Orientation Programme at SMS
The first batch of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme (affiliated to the Gautam Buddh Technical University, Lucknow) got off to a flying start at the Khushipur campus of School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi amidst high profile corporate gathering who all chanted the same mantra for success: Have lakshya (target) in life.
Inaugurating the two-day orientation programme, the Chief Guest on the occasion, Shri Sunil K Narang (Senior Director-Jacksons Group) exhorted the new incumbents to work hard in life, study with focus and generate ideas to make that difference in life which makes one successful. He also stressed upon the need to have the right attitude besides being alert on the market environment front. Through his formal presentation, he also asked the freshers to identify strengths and weaknesses and respond to the opportunities and threats accordingly. He stressed upon having commitment, take challenges and be cheerful and build relationships in life so as to succeed.
The Guests of Honour in the MBA Orientation Programme, Shri A. N. Rangaswamy (Director-Advatech Cera Tiles Ltd.) and Shri Rajesh Srivastava (Head, HR-British Paints Ltd.) stressed on basics in life and asked the youngsters to give their best in life. Shri Rangaswamy talked at length about the real life scenarios in which we all have to survive and succeed. He further said, working responsibly and learning from everyone else (even the college gardener) should be the habit of each individual. Management is not about jargons but jagaran (alert and awake), he added.
Shri Rajesh quoted Bhagwad Gita to link success to the chain of thought-action-habit-character-destiny. He dealt with the corporate framework involving teamwork, another attribute to define success. Further, he said that we should do things which make everyone proud. He also brought to light the various measures at his organisation due to which excellence has not only prevailed but has increased multifold in the previous few years.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries and new students of the maiden batch of the MBA Course, the Director of the Institute, Prof. P. N. Jha reiterated the fact that experience is the best teacher due to which SMS could wonderfully add the MBA Course to the existing basket of professional programmes. It was this grit which brought this programme to SMS Varanasi seeing the demand from the stakeholders and over 100 students have already joined it, he supplemented. He asked the students to utilize all facilities offered by SMS and become innovative problem-solvers.
The Vision and the Mission of SMS was presented by Shri KK Bajpai (Reader) while the Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Sanjay Saxena (Dean-Management Sciences). Shri Amitabh Pandey (MBA Coordinator) gave a preview about the MBA Programme. Also present were the Registrar, Mr. Sanjay Gupta and Dean-R&D, Mr. Alok Kumar and other faculty members. The Programme was coordinated by Dr. Meenakshi A Singh (Reader). In the end of the programme, Prof. P. N. Jha felicitated the Guests with memento of Lord Vishwanath.
