WORLD LITERACY DAY CELEBRATION@SMS Varanasi
School of Management sciences, Varanasi observed World Literacy Day on the theme “Literacy for a human-centered recovery: Narrowing the Digital Divide” on Wednesday 8th September, 2021 to remind the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society.
Prof. Kamal Sheel Mishra, Dean System & IT and Head, Department of Computer Science and Coordinator Rainbow club, Dr. Pallavi Pathak, Associate Professor, SMS, Varanasi, & Mr. Anand Prakash Dube, Associate Professor SMS, Varanasi in their impeccable deliberation made students aware of the various facets of World Literacy Day.
Prof. Kamal Sheel Mishra said that UNESCO has declared 8th September as International Literacy Day. He made students aware of the meaning of being sakshar, Mr Anand Prakash Dube discussed the role of technology in education especially during covid -19 pandemic and added that education is the most valuable asset that cannot stolen nor divided but increases as it is imparted to others.
Dr. Pallavi Pathak explained the theme well and elaborated the meaning of Narrowing the Digital Divide and informed about the various steps taken and policies formulated by government to increase the literacy rate in India. She said despite of various measures taken by government covid -19 disrupted the learning of 773 million children young people and adults.
