A seven-day Faculty Development Program 2023 @ SMS Varanasi

A seven-day faculty development program begins at SMS Varanasi.  The main theme of this seven day FDP is "Systematic Literature Review and Bibliometric Analysis".  On this occasion, Professor PK Mishra of IIT (BHU) was the chief guest and Prof. Sumit Narula, director of Amity School of Communication, Gurgaon, was the guest of honour.  Welcoming the guests, Director of SMS Varanasi, Prof.  P.N.  Jha said that this seven-day FDP has been prepared under the new education policy in true sense.  Outlining the objectives of the FDP, Prof. P. N. Jha said that this seven-day FDP would undoubtedly help teachers and researchers to do research in the right direction. 

The chief guest of the inaugural session Prof.  P.K.  Mishra said that New technology such as AI has brought rapid changes in the field of research. India situation in the field of fundamental research is very worrying, in such a situation, it is necessary that research should be done by keeping the right research method and clear research objectives.

Distinguished Prof.  Sumit Narula emphasized on identifying fake and cloned research journals in the field of research.  He said that the network of fake research journals has spread globally, there is a need to create a common network to avoid them.  Prof. Narula told that there are many research journals not only nationally but also globally which extract money from researchers and teachers in the name of publishing research papers by showing fake impact factors.  Your research paper should be published in journals only after thoroughly examining the research journals.  The inaugural session was moderated by Dr. Bhavna Singh. 

On this occasion SMS Varanasi Executive Secretary Dr. M.P. Singh, Registrar Sanjay Gupta, FDP coordinators Prof. Amitabh Pandey, Prof.  Pallavi Pathak along with a large number of teachers and participants were present.

Another enlightening day at our Faculty Development Program On the third day of our FDP journey, we were honored to have the brilliant Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Associate Professor from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, New Delhi, guide us through the fascinating realm of Systematic Literature Review (SLR).

Dr. Kaur technical session was an eye-opener, as she expertly navigated us through the intricate process of SLR. With a hands-on approach, she led us through the steps, unraveling the mystery of conducting a successful SLR. Not stopping there, she also uncovered the magic behind protocols and the intriguing utilization of Pearson correlations.

Technical session III and session IV were conducted by Dr. Anju Singh and Dr. Anjana Singh respectively.

we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Rahul Pratap Singh Kaurav, an esteemed Associate Professor from Fore School of Management, New Delhi, as our resource person. He brought a wealth of knowledge to the table and left us inspired. 

Dr. Kaurav lecture was an eye-opener, delving into the intricacies of "Bibliometric Analysis." He did not  just stop at theory; he led a hands-on session, giving participants the chance to explore R Studio and Vosviewer, providing invaluable practical experience. 

The highlight of Session VIII was Dr. Kaurav practical demonstration on how to extract data from SCOPUS and Web of Science. It was a mind-boggling journey into the world of research databases, and we are immensely grateful for his guidance. 

The session VII and VIII on day 5 were conducted by Ms. Sripriya Roy Chowdhary and Mrs. Anjali Kushwaha respectively. 

Kudos to Dr. Kaurav for making this FDP session so engaging and insightful.
