M.Com, B.Com, B.Com (Hons) and BA (Hons) Mass Comm. Orientation Programme 2023@ SMS Varanasi

A two-day orientation program for M.Com, B.Com, B.Com (Hons) and BA (Hons) Mass Communication courses conducted at the School of Management Sciences stafied. Addressing the newly admitted students in the inaugural session of the programme, Director of the Institute, Prof. P.N. Jha said that education is not just about what you learn in the classroom, but it is also about the values and skills you develop. We do. Encouraging the newly admitted students, Prof. Jha said that by active participation in all the programs organized in the institute, all of you as students can prepare yourself completely for the future. Referring to the discipline and modern and advanced resources established in SMS, Prof. Jha said that the library and computer labs here are as per high standards, their regular and efficient use will undoubtedly benefit the students a lot. He said that in future you students are the ones who will build a new and technologically rich India.

GI expert Padmashree Shri Rajinikanth, who was present as the chief guest in the orientation program, underlined the importance of industry-academia collaboration. He said that the bridge between education and industry is important for the overall development of students. Discussing the contribution of SMS to the field of higher education, Shri Rajinikanth said that the educational institution is taking proactive steps to ensure that students are well prepared tbr the challenges of the professional world. Advising the budding students, Mr. Rajinikanth said that while textbooks and lectures provide the foundation, it is equally important to understand the practical implications of what you learn. Special guest of the program CA Sudeshna Basu said that commerce is the backbone of any prosperous society, and it is very pleasant to see the enthusiasm for it among the students. The choice of your ambition is a testament to your desire to be apart of shaping the financial landscape of tomorrow. Interacting directly with the students, he said that the academic activities of this institute including internships, workshops and practical exercises are designed to expose you to real-world scenarios. Embrace these opportunities with enthusiasm, as they will be important in preparing you for the professional challenges ahead.

Prof. Anurag Dave of the Department of Mass Communication, BHU, who was present as a special guest in the orientation program, said that mass communication is a field which is at the forefront of social change. It plays an important role in forming opinions, disseminating information and influencing culture. Enthusing the budding students, Prof. Dave said that this is a field that requires not only technical proficiency but also a deep understanding of the socio-cultural scenario, which includes both theory and practical applications.

Another special guest, Prof. K.S. Jaiswal, Department of Commerce, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, said that commerce and management are subjects which hold utmost importance in todays rapidly developing world. The skills and knowledge you acquire here will not only shape your professional future but also contribute to the larger economic landscape. He encouraged the incoming students and said that every student should be actively involved in all aspects of campus life. In the inaugural session, the introduction of the Preamble of SMS was presented by Mr. Kartikeya Singh, Assistant Professor. Prof. R.K. Singh, Head of Department, Commerce Department introduced about M.com, B.com, B.com (Hons) and BA (Hons) Mass Communication courses. The session was conducted by Dr. Anju Singh course coordinator B.Com Programme and vote of thanks was given by B.Com (Hons.) Course Coordinator Mr. Vir Pratap.

On this occasion, SMS Varanasi Executive Secretary Dr. M.P. Singh, Director prof. P.N. Jha, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta, B.Com Course Coordinator Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Dr. Ishan Tripathi, Course Coordinator, BA (Hons) Mass Communication and all the teachers and staff were present.
