Agro & Rural Startup Business Model Contest 7.0

The Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development (CEISD) of School of Management Sciences, Varanasi , an autonomous college and Institution Innovation council conducted  an Agro  - Rural Startup Business Plan contest 7.0  on 12th May’ 2023.

Prof. Pinak Nath Jha, Director School of Management Sciences, Varanasi, Prof. RajKumar Singh, Head of Department – Commerce, & Chairperson, Centre for Entrepreneurship Innovation & Skill Development, School of Management Sciences, Varanasi & programme Coordinator and distinguished guests of the event inaugurated the programme with the lighting of lamp and garlanding the statue of Goddess Saraswati. The esteemed panel of judges comprised of noted dignitaries from academia and corporate such as, Prof, Ashish Bajpai, Professor and coordinator , MBA (Agri-Business), Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Shri Rajesh Bhatiaji, President, Small Industries Association, National Secretary, Indian Industries Association, President  - UP Card Board Manufacturers Association, Varanasi, Shri, D.S. Mishraji, President, Ramnagar Industrial Association.

 The primary objective of Agro - Rural Startup Business Plan contest 7.0 was to foster entrepreneurship and startups in agro and rural areas amongst the students. A total of 8 teams consisting of various management students from different courses at undergraduate and post- graduate levels participated in this contest and showcased their agro and rural startups business plans. The distinguished panel of judges applauded the institute’s endeavours of giving a Launchpad to students to show case their business plans in the agro and rural sector and expressed happiness over students’ diligence and dedication.

 First prize was bagged by Kishan Batra, Adarsh Dubey and Aman Upadhyaya of BCA VI Semester. Second prize was won by Riddhima Singh BA(Hons) Mass Communication III year, Amisha Pathak, Ananya Sharma BA(Hons) Mass Communication III year, whereas the team of  Priyam Chaurasia, Richa Singh and Nikhil Pandey of BBA IV semester bagged the third prize. Prof. Pinak Nath Jha, director, School of Management Scienes, Varanasi congratulated the winners and pointed that such contests must be organised on regular basis so that the students can unearth and develop the flair required for starting their own ventures..

Dr. Bhavana Singh, Assistant Professor – SMS Varanasi, conducted the inaugural session. Prof. R.K. Singh gave the welcome address whereas Mr. Vikas Chandra Sharma, Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi, briefed the rules and regulations. Dr. Sofia Khan, Assistant Professor, SMS Varanasi, conducted the valedictory session whereas Dr. Amitabh Pandey, Associate Professor, SMS Varanasi, proposed the vote of thanks.
