Harmony in Learning: SMS Varanasi Mass Communication Course Resonates
The Department of Mass Communication at SMS Varanasi organized a seven-day Value Added Course (30 Hours) titled "Expressive Arts for Holistic Communication," from December 19th – December 26th 2023 leaving a profound impact on its BA(Hons) Mass Communication students.
Led by course coordinator Dr. Ishan Tripathi, the program delved into the realm of expressive arts, featuring distinguished artists and experts. On the first day, classical singer Mr. Nilesh Kumar Pandey and Tabla performer Mr. Amit Kumar Yadav graced the occasion, imparting insights into classical singing forms and non-verbal communication through bhavas.
The course continued to captivate students as they explored music with Mr. Nilesh Kumar Pandey and Mr. Amit Yadav on day two, unraveling the intricacies of ragas like Bhairavi and Darbari. The following days witnessed a deep dive into Bharatnatyam under the guidance of renowned dancer Mrs. Deepika Srivastava.
The finale featured a dynamic session with Mr. Vivekanand Brahmachari, a distinguished trainer and theatre actor, who shared expertise in theatre acting, mime, expression, and voice modulation.
The holistic approach to communication through expressive arts has not only enriched the students skills but also fostered a deeper understanding of cultural heritage.
