25th Orientation Programme of PGDM & 7th Orientation Program of MBA Started at SMS Varanasi

Inauguration of nine days orientation programme of more than 200 students in two year full time course of PGDM (25th batch) and MBA (seventh batch) was organised at School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi campus today. The President of the programme, famous corporate personality, Shri Ramesh Kumar Agarwal (Chairman Agarwal Packers and Movers) while addressing the newly enrolled students stressed upon the importance of Management education. He said that while science of management needs to be learned and studied, art of management is to be practiced because 10 % is How to make it and 90% is How to take it. Shri Ramesh Kumar Agarwal emphasized on the importance of being innovative. He urged students not to be a part of masses but go for something new. According to him, the mantra of success is to be always inquisitive and doing things as an owner not as an obligation or duty.

Following Shri Agarwal, Shri Pramod Kumar Jain, CEO TCI Ltd, the distinguished guest of the inaugural programme, greeted students by asking them to work and learn in a challenging environment to achieve success. He further explained that to be successful one should be fully conversant with the facts of the issues so that the same can be communicated confidently. His advice to the students was to remain busy and energetic.

Later in the day Prof. SK Dubey (Director, Institute of Management Studies, BHU) shared his experience with newly admitted students and said that the institute is achieving new heights and records in the field of Management. He attributed the Industrial Oriented Curriculum of SMS as being at par with the curriculum design of reputed international universities. He reiterated that practical and job oriented courses of SMS has helped the institute to procure new heights in job placement. Prof. Dubey stressed on the need for students to be conversant with the fundamentals of the subjects to be studied. He asked students to learn leadership skills and informed them about the massive opportunities that lie under the garb of Management education.

Earlier, welcoming the Guests on this grand occasion, Prof. P. N. Jha, Director of SMS Varanasi, said that it happens to be a landmark day in the history of SMS as students have come to the inflection point by taking admission in the two prestigious courses of the Institute. He said, SMS is a globally sensitive B-School as it has already initiated Values and ethics education in its courses ever since launch. SMS would leave no stone unturned to provide compatible skills to its students, he commented. He highlighted that the quality placement of SMS Varanasi are indicator of quality teaching and learning atmosphere of the institute. Therefore Dr. Avinash Chandra Supkar presented the Preamble of SMS while Prof. Sandeep Singh brought forward the importance of management education.Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. R.K. Singh.

Dr. Pallavi Pathak coordinated the inaugural session. On this occasion, Executive Secretary Dr. M. P. Singh, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Coordinator of PGDM Shri Amitabh Pandey, MBA Coordinator Mr. Kartikeya Singh and other faculty members were also present.
