INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON Alchemy of Leadership For Innovation and Sustainability
Inaugurating a Two day International Conference on “Alchemy of Leadership for Innovation and Sustainability” at the Khushipur campus of School of Management Sciences (SMS) on Saturday, the Chief Guest Prof. Parimal H Vyas (Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda) said that Technology has changed the way we think. Technology is the precursor to Innovation and hence sustainability, though broadly! Technology has become a way of life infact. Leadership is the key to all these, he added putting trust and Transparency as important ingredients of Leadership.
Distinguished Guest Prof. B. P. Singh (Former Dean, Delhi School of Economics) said that Innovation is an economic phenomenon and spiritual and social as well. India can win only if continuous Innovations occur. Guest of Honour, Prof. Vikram Singh, IPS (Pro Chancellor-NOIDA International University) said that pain, sacrifice and effort can never be out of fashion, he was relating it to the student community and exhorted the students to shy away from ‘mediocrity’ which is a sin now a days. He asked the students to lead by character and integrity. For the same, he said, we need mental, spiritual and physical dexterity.
In his presidential address, Prof. Geshe N Samten (Vice Chancellor-Central University for Tibetan Studies-Deemed University, Sarnath, Varanasi) said that we all must have an appreciative attitude and inspiring culture to nurture Innovation and sustainability through leadership. For leadership, we need to possess not only the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) but also ‘Spiritual Quotient’ (SQ), he added. In fact, Good leadership is the essence of Innovation, commented Prof. Samten.
Earlier the Guests were welcomed by the Director Prof PN Jha who at the end of the inaugural ceremony honoured them with shawl and ICON mementos. The Conference theme was presented by Prof. RK Singh while the Vote-of-Thanks was given by Prof. Kamal Sheel Mishra (both ICON conveners). The deliberations by esteemed dignitaries were followed by release of conference souvenir, SMS Journal Purushartha and SMS Journal of Entrepreneurship & Innovation and the SMS newsletter. The Inaugural session was anchored by Dr. (Mrs.) Pallavi Pathak.
First technical session was chaired by Prof. Pramod Pathak, Deparment of Management Studies, IIT(ISM), Dhanbad and Dr. Hemant Gupta MD, Agnivesh Ayurved Healthcare (P) Ltd. Dr Pathak emphasised on the role of leader as catalyst along with emotional quotient and said that the leader should have high level of patience and should be empathetic with high moral values. Dr Hemant Gupta emphasised on the Indian traditional knowledge. He said that a true leader is one who keeps on learning during entire span of life. He insisted in making learning a life-long process.
In the second Technical Session which was chaired by Prof. S.V. S. Raju. Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU and Prof. Sandeep Singh Head Management & Dean DSA, School of Management Sciences, Varanasi. They both emphasised on the importance of Skill development and Sustainability. Third technical session was chaired by Prof. J B Kumariya Department of Economics, BHU and Prof Alok Kumar Dean Research and Development, School of Management Sciences, Varanasi. Fourth technical Session was chaired by Dr. R S Singh Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, and IIT (BHU). He discussed about need of innovation and sustainability. He emphasized that technology becomes obsolete every five years and to remain in market everybody needs to understand the importance of innovation.
On second day, first technical sessions was chaired by Prof. Rakesh Singh, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU. He has given many suggestions to get good research insight from different sources. It was a valuable session for new research scholars as well as delegates. Second technical session of the day was chaired by Prof. H S Asthana, Department of Psychology, BHU. Third technical session was chaired by Prof. Satya Singh Head & Dean,
Department of Computer Sciences & Applications Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. She said to observe ourselves when we wake up and decide how much of our day we can control by controlling our attitude and responses to people and situations. Fourth Technical session was chaired by Dr. Purnima Awasthi, Associate Professor Department of Psychology, BHU and Prof. Kamal Sheel Mishra, Head & Dean, Department of Computer Science, School of Management Sciences, Varanasi. They both gave several inputs and concluded with the opinion that Research scholar should work more on empirical data, irrespective of the fact and figures.
Plenary Session was coordinated by Dr. Medha Sriastava. Prof. Sunita Rani, Professor, Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy of Administration, Mussoorie was the first speaker of the session. She focused on innovation and leadership in defence sector and said that things are becoming complicated in government set up.
Later in the session Ms. Brenda Roberts, Founder & CEO, The Centre For Living in Harmony, USA focused on different leadership styles and gave example of Mahatma Gandhi, Steve Jobs, Our prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Virat Kohli. She mentioned autobiography of Paramananda Yogi. She also helped the audience to meditate. She emphasized on the ability to have personal harmony through Yoga. Further adding value to the deliberation Prof Bejon Misra, Founder, Consumer Online Foundation discussed about the alchemy within one self. He said innovation should be sufficed by funds otherwise it is not having any significance. He also discussed about demographic dividend and advantageous condition of our Indian economy. Mr. V. Krishna Kumar, Vice President (Sales & Marketing), Texmo Group (Aquasub Engineering), Coimbatore and Hon’ble Chancellor of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore were present in the session. Plenary session ended with facilitation of the guest by honorable director Dr. P.N. Jha. More than two hundred researchers and academicians presented their papers during the conference.
