The Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Varanasi & Lucknow Chapter, held its 12th Chapter Convention on Quality Concept (VLCCQC-2024) at the School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi campus. The convention, themed “Investing in People, Building a Better Future,” brought together experts, industry leaders, and participants from various sectors to emphasize the importance of human capital in fostering organizational growth and sustainability. 

Key Moments of the Event:

Welcome & Opening Remarks: The program commenced with a warm welcome from Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Registrar of SMS Varanasi, who highlighted the significance of the convention and its theme. He emphasized the role of quality management in shaping future industries and stressed the importance of investing in people for a better and sustainable future. 

Chief Guest Address: Prof. Bihari Lal Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his insightful address, Prof. Sharma discussed how traditional knowledge, when combined with modern quality management practices, can lead to transformational changes in industries. He emphasized the need for innovation, creativity, and people-centered approaches in achieving long-term organizational success. 

Guest of Honor’s Perspective: Mr. RL Yadav, ADRM, Northern Railway, Varanasi offered an engaging perspective on the relevance of quality concepts in the public sector. He shared real-life examples of how quality circles within organizations like Indian Railways have significantly improved operations, fostering teamwork, and efficiency at all levels. 

Technical Sessions & Workshops: Several engaging sessions were held, focusing on the application of quality concepts across various sectors: 

Dr. Ashok Rai, Chairman, QCFI Varanasi Chapter, led a hands-on workshop on Lean Management and Six Sigma, which offered participants practical tools for minimizing waste and improving productivity. 

Dr. Vineeta Kamran, Secretary, QCFI Lucknow Chapter, conducted an enlightening session on “Quality Leadership for Sustainable Growth”, emphasizing how nurturing leadership qualities in employees drives organizational success. 

Panel Discussions & Interactive Dialogue: A stimulating panel discussion was held, featuring prominent industry experts, including Mr. Shailendra Kumar, COD Lucknow Chapter, and Mr. A.M. Chakraborty, Secretary Varanasi Chapter. The dialogue revolved around the challenges and opportunities in implementing quality initiatives and how focusing on people’s growth can revolutionize quality standards in industries. 

One of the event’s highlights was the Best Quality Circle Award, which was presented to a leading manufacturing team for their innovative contributions towards improving workplace efficiency and quality standards. 

Vote of Thanks: The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. A.M. Chakraborty, Secretary of the Varanasi Chapter, who expressed his gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their valuable contributions to the success of the convention. 

The convention provided a dynamic platform for professionals, educators, and students to network, share knowledge, and discuss the latest trends in quality management. It was a day filled with learning, innovation, and a shared commitment to building a better future through investing in people.
